BUFF releases tickets for its' first ever Summer Season at Genesis Cinema on Friday 26 June.
A documentary profiling the singer & songwriter Amy Winehouse will headline the British Urban Film Festival’s Summer Season of film programming at Genesis Cinema in June.
The film, simply called 'Amy', comes from the BAFTA award-winning director Asif Kapadia, who brought audiences the Motor Racing documentary 'Senna' four years ago, and will be released on 3 July.
A once-in-a-generation talent, 'Amy' tells the private story of the six-time Grammy award winner Amy Winehouse - in her own words, plus those of her earliest friends. Featuring extensive unseen archive footage and previously unheard tracks, this film promises to shine a light on what was so special about the London singer, and what led to her decline. Amy Winehouse died from
alcohol poisoning in July 2011 at the age of 27.
‘Amy’ is the centrepiece of BUFF Summer Season, the latest strand of film programming launched today by the British Urban Film Festival which is also headlined by the double-header screening of Second Coming, a UK family drama directed by Debbie Tucker Green and starring Nadine Marshall & Idris Elba.
Emmanuel Anyiam-Osigwe, founder of BUFF, said “We have a proud tradition of bringing audiences the very best documentaries and preview screenings including Sparkle, Welcome to the Punch, Selma, and The Trials of Muhammad Ali. Once again, audiences have a lot to look forward to in our 10th year of urban film coverage in 2015".
Amy will receive a BUFF preview screening at Genesis Cinema on Friday 26 June beginning at 6.30pm. The film Second Coming will screen at 9.00pm on the same evening. Tickets for each screening will cost £12.
